Shelf life of bottled water
 

How long will bottled water last if you keep it in a rubermaid container in a cool basement?

While I'd eventually like to buy a filtration system, for now it's bottled water.

Funny you should ask. I just finished a carton of 1 liter bottles of Naya water from 1999. Unfortunately I can't tell you when the expiration date was but it was long, long ago. They were fine. No odd taste or floaters or nothing.

The water in your bottles is pretty much the same stuff sitting in the lakes, seas and oceans that been sitting there for billions of years. As far as I can tell fish poop is not needed as a preservative.

What about the plastics leaching into the water? Perhaps this would be the least concern when dying of thirst.

Water is packaged in HDPE. DYODD :)
